East Bay Stand Down – Community Volunteers Encouraged to Register Now

Volunteers, veterans, community leaders, friends and supporters. We encourage you to personally register first and then share this request for volunteers for the East Bay Stand Down 2010. EBSDA is a four day 24 hour program for homeless veterans.

Even if you are not sure of the day – dates or time you will be available to volunteer for EBSD you should still register now. Provide us with all the basic information we need for registration. Your registration allows us to provide names and contact information to cover the hundreds of volunteers this outstanding community service event for homeless, needy and displaced veterans with the insurance policy required by the federal government.  

East Bay Stand Down is AUGUST 5 – 8 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.  The only 4-day program to give a helping hand “up” to local veterans…  this is not a hand-out… it is a community service assistance effort – needing your personal assistance through “volunteer efforts” & “donations” – Make a Difference today.

The Rotary Club of Danville/Sycamore Valley is now accepting applications from professional firefighters/Volunteer firefighters or EMTS between the ages of 25-40 to go to Monterrey, Mexico for a four-week exchange experience.  This is a Rotary sponsored program and is fully funded by the Rotary International Foundation.  Dates of travel are April 5, to May 2, 2010.  Any one meeting the following qualifications may contact Jim Coleman (925) 997-9528.

Signed GSE applications must be submitted to your local club president by November 15, 2009

Who is eligible?

GSE team member applicants must:

• Be between the ages of 25 and 40
• Be fully employed with at least two years of work experience as a Firefighter/Volunteer Firefighter/EMT
• Be in the early stages of their careers
• Reside in or be employed in Rotary district 5160
• Be citizens of the U.S.
• Be personable, articulate, cooperative, motivated team players, and enthusiastic.
• Have an interest in people of other cultures
• May not be a Rotarian, spouse of a Rotarian or lineal descendant of a Rotarian
